H1N1 Flu Vaccine, Profitable to Pregnant Mother

H1N1 Flu Vaccine
Nobody wants to get flu. However, for pregnant women, getting influenza vaccination turns out to provide a distinct advantage.

A team of researchers from Canada found that the H1N1 virus vaccine did not cause any side effects to the mother. Instead, the vaccine given when the mother was having flu could significantly reduce mortality on birth and premature birth that caused babies born with too light weight.

The researchers found that pregnant women who received the H1N1 vaccine had multiplied health benefits.  As much as 34 percent of the newborn babies could avoid deaths, 28 percent of them could avoid premature delivery, and 19 babies were born with good weight. In this study, the researchers used a birth database in Ontario. At least 55.570 births in Ontario during the H1N1 pandemic were studied by the researchers.

Written in a paper titled "H1N1 Influenza Vaccination During Pregnancy and Fetal and Neonatal Outcomes", this study were also published in American Journal of Public Health.
